Waste Management Environmental Programme

Integrated Waste Management Environmental Programme

Our aim is to improve the environment through the promotion of recycling, waste management, upcycling and crafting material from recycled material. Our Environment Programme is an integrated waste management programme that uses a multifaceted approach to address environmental waste issues (mostly in townships and high-density areas) with a massive economic job creation focus. At the core of the project is a circular economy of waste that targets the community as the main drivers and beneficiaries.

In line with the governments SDGs, Sustainability, communal inclusion, stakeholder partnerships, youth empowerment, job creation, land rehabilitation and food security are some of the key components built into the programme. We train waste pickers/ambassadors to collect recyclable and general waste to be processed at the buyback centre to be sold to off end-users and manufacturers. This is a sustainable way of generating a steady income to sustain the activities of the ambassadors. Through the upcycling of waste products, new products such as furniture and jewellery are produced and sold. This is also an income generation avenue to sustain the programme on a commercial scale. The innovation and technology component of the programme has designed high-end products such as plastic pavers and blocks manufactured from waste.
